What is pallet wrap ?
Pallet wrap or stretch wrap (and sometimes wrongly called shrink wrap) is the most common way to secure goods to pallets. They are rolls of polythene on cardboard cores that stretch easily so a tight and secure wrap is formed around the pallet. It enables goods to be transported securely and prevents goods falling off pallets. Not to be confused with shrink wrap which requires a heat source to cling to the pallet or product.
Always remember to tightly wind the stretch wrap at the base of the pallet so that the base of the goods and pallet are secured. There is no point just winding the pallet wrap around the goods if the base of the pallet has no coverage.
You can minimise your carbon footprint by ensuring you use pallet wrap correctly. To gain the benefits of pallet wrap it must be fully stretched when wrapping a pallet, this will ensure the pallet wrap is fixed tightly to the goods and more importantly to the pallet itself. You will also use far less stretch wrap which saves you money and helps reduce packaging waste.
We offer a black stretch wrap for when the contents of the pallet need to be hidden. Black stretch wrap is also stronger than standard although we do offer an even stronger clear version for heavy duty applications.
Pallet wrap will either have extended or flush cores. The extended cores are for gripping the roll allowing the user to unwind and stretch the roll as he or she walks around the pallet . The flush cores are generally used with a pallet wrap dispenser.
